Terms of Sale and License
The agreement between you and Grizzly Mining Company LLC for buying and using ScreenWright. It's written to be read. Where a sentence has to be formal, it is, and the plain version comes first.
Last updated: October 4, 2026
The short version
- ScreenWright is made by Grizzly Mining Company LLC. Paddle sells it for us and handles payment, tax and refunds.
- US$19, once, buys a license to ScreenWright 1.x for one person, on up to five Macs that person uses. Every 1.x update is included.
- Reading, editing, previewing and snapshots are free. Writing to a device needs a license.
- ScreenWright depends on parts of iOS that Apple doesn't document or support. Any iOS update can break it, and we can't promise a fix.
- Keep a way back. ScreenWright snapshots before every write, and iOS has Reset Home Screen Layout.
- You're responsible for what you, and any AI agent you connect, ask ScreenWright to do.
The short version is a summary. The full terms below are the agreement.
1. Who we are, and who sells ScreenWright
ScreenWright is made and licensed by Grizzly Mining Company LLC, a Montana limited liability company (“GMC”, “we”, “us”). Our mailing address is P.O. Box 321, Thompson Falls, MT 59873, USA.
Our order process is run by our online reseller, Paddle. Paddle is the merchant of record for every ScreenWright order: you buy ScreenWright from Paddle, Paddle charges you, collects any sales tax or VAT, and handles billing questions and refunds. The Paddle company you buy from depends on where you are: Paddle.com Inc. in the United States, Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd. in Canada, and Paddle.com Market Limited everywhere else.
Your purchase is governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. These terms are between you and us, and they govern your use of ScreenWright. Paddle's Buyer Terms call them the “Supplier Agreement”.
2. Agreeing to these terms
By buying a license, or by installing or using ScreenWright, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
If you use ScreenWright for a company or other organization, you agree on its behalf, and you confirm you're allowed to.
3. What's free and what needs a license
You can download ScreenWright for free. Without a license you can:
- connect to your iPhone or iPad and read its home screen layout,
- rearrange it in the editor, search it, and undo,
- preview any change and read the exact diff, in the app or through the MCP server,
- browse your snapshots and Write History, and save layouts to your library on your Mac.
Every write to a device needs a license. That means Apply Changes, restoring a snapshot, applying a saved layout, and the MCP server's write tools (apply_layout, restore_snapshot and apply_saved_layout).
There is no free trial of writing. The free features show you what ScreenWright reads from your device and exactly what it would change, so you can check that it works with your device before you buy. If it still doesn't work out, see our Refund Policy.
4. Your license
What you get
When your payment is complete, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install and use ScreenWright version 1.x, including its licensed write features, on up to five Macs that you personally use at any one time, subject to these terms.
One license, one person
A license belongs to one person. That person can use it on the Macs they use, at home and at work, up to five at a time. Anyone else, including other people in your household, needs their own license.
A company or other organization can buy licenses for its people, one per person. It can move a license from someone who has left to someone new by asking us through the support page.
You can use ScreenWright with any number of iPhones and iPads, as long as each one is yours or you're allowed to manage it.
Your license key
After you buy, we email you a license key. Your key carries the name and email address you bought with, and ScreenWright shows them in the app (“Licensed to …”). If you lose the key, ask us through the support page and we'll send it again.
Activating a Mac
The first time you enter your key on a Mac, ScreenWright contacts our license server once to activate that Mac. It sends your key and an install ID: a random installation identifier that ScreenWright creates for that Mac. It isn't derived from your Mac's hardware, but our server links it to your license, and so to the name and email address on your key. Our server returns a signed activation, and from then on ScreenWright checks it on your Mac. It works offline and doesn't need to contact us again. Our Privacy Policy explains what the server keeps.
Each key can be active on up to five Macs at once. To use it on a sixth, deactivate a Mac you no longer use from inside ScreenWright, which frees its slot. If you can't reach that Mac anymore, ask us through the support page and we'll free the slot for you.
Revoked keys
Keep your key to yourself. Please don't share, post or sell it.
We can revoke a key. A revoked key can't activate any more Macs. We revoke a key in these cases:
- When it's refunded. A refunded license ends. Its key also stops unlocking writes on the Macs where it's already active, from the next ScreenWright update you install or the next time ScreenWright contacts our license server (for example, to activate or deactivate a Mac), whichever comes first.
- When it's exposed by accident. If your key ends up online without your meaning it to, for example in a screenshot or a public file, we'll revoke it so it can't activate new Macs, and we'll send you a replacement. Macs where you've already activated it keep working. If you notice it first, tell us through the support page.
- When it's deliberately shared, or the license check is circumvented. If you knowingly share, post, sell or lend your key, or you or someone using your key gets around the license check, we can end your license under section 14 and revoke its key, and we won't replace it.
What you can't do
You may not:
- share your license, key or license file with anyone else, or sell, rent, lend or sublicense ScreenWright;
- remove, disable, bypass or tamper with the license check, or help anyone else do it;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble ScreenWright, except where the law allows it despite this restriction;
- remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notice in ScreenWright.
Who owns what
We own ScreenWright. You get a license to use it, not ownership of it. Your layouts, snapshots and saved layouts are yours. ScreenWright includes open-source components, which are licensed to you under their own licenses.
5. Updates
Your license covers every ScreenWright 1.x release. A future major version, such as 2.0, may be a paid upgrade. If it is, your license still covers 1.x, but read section 6: we can't promise that 1.x will keep working with future versions of iOS.
ScreenWright checks for updates and offers them to you. We aren't obliged to release any particular update or feature, or to keep releasing updates for any length of time. These terms apply to every update we give you.
6. ScreenWright depends on Apple, and Apple can break it
This is the most important section. Please read it before you buy.
ScreenWright talks to your iPhone or iPad through system services that Apple built for its own tools. Apple doesn't document these services, doesn't offer them to developers, and doesn't support their use by apps like ScreenWright. Apple can change, restrict or remove them in any release of iOS, iPadOS or macOS, including a minor update, without notice.
When that happens, some or all of ScreenWright may stop working or refuse to write. Despite every safeguard we've built, it could also produce a layout you didn't intend.
We'll try to adapt ScreenWright when Apple changes things, and we plan on updates after major iOS releases. We can't promise that we'll be able to, how quickly we'll manage it, or that any particular iOS, iPadOS or macOS version will be supported. A change Apple makes isn't a defect in ScreenWright. On its own, it isn't grounds for a refund outside our Refund Policy.
After you update your device or your Mac, preview a change before you apply it.
7. Not affiliated with Apple
ScreenWright is an independent product. It is not made, sponsored, endorsed or approved by Apple Inc. iPhone, iPad, iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Finder and Mac App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. ScreenWright and the ScreenWright icon are trademarks of Grizzly Mining Company LLC.
8. Your responsibility, snapshots and getting back
You decide what ScreenWright writes. In the app, read the Review sheet before you apply a change. An agent's writes don't wait for you unless you turn on Confirm agent writes (see section 9).
ScreenWright changes the arrangement of your home screen: where apps, folders and widgets sit, folder names, widget sizes, and which widgets stay. It doesn't install or delete apps, and it doesn't touch the data inside them. Removing a widget is one-way: restoring a snapshot can't bring it back, so you'll need to add it again on the device.
Before every write, ScreenWright saves a snapshot of the current layout to your Mac, and at least the last 20 per device are kept. After every write it reads the device back and tells you whether the result matches what it planned. Snapshots live on your Mac, so back up your Mac. Keep your device backed up too.
If a layout goes wrong, restore a snapshot first. It puts back the arrangement, but not a widget you removed (see above). If that doesn't work, iOS has a last resort that puts Apple's default layout back. It doesn't delete apps or data, but you lose your folders and arrangement:
Settings › General › Transfer or Reset iPhone › Reset › Reset Home Screen Layout
Only use ScreenWright with devices you own or are allowed to manage.
9. AI agents and the MCP server
ScreenWright includes an MCP server, screenwright-mcp, that runs on your Mac. It lets AI agents you choose read your home screen and, with a license, write to it.
- You choose the agents and what you ask them to do. Anything an agent does through ScreenWright on your Mac is treated as done by you, and you're responsible for it just as for your own actions.
- Agents make mistakes. Agent writes go through the same snapshot and read-back checks as yours. A write that “verified clean” matches the agent's plan, which isn't always the layout you wanted.
- Agent writes don't wait for you, unless you ask. By default, an agent writes as soon as its plan validates, without showing you the diff first; the write is still snapshotted, read back and verified. Turn on Confirm agent writes in ScreenWright's settings, and every agent write waits for you to click Allow on your Mac. It's off unless you turn it on.
- What an agent reads goes to that agent. Your layout, app list and icons go to the agent and its provider, under their terms, not ours. Our Privacy Policy explains this.
10. Acceptable use
Don't use ScreenWright:
- on a device you don't own or aren't allowed to manage,
- to break the law or anyone else's rights,
- to get around its license check, or to give paid features to people without a license.
11. No warranty
We've worked hard on ScreenWright's safety checks. Still, all software has bugs, and Apple can change iOS at any time. So ScreenWright comes as it is.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, SCREENWRIGHT IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT SCREENWRIGHT WILL WORK WITH ANY PARTICULAR DEVICE OR WITH ANY VERSION OF iOS, iPadOS OR macOS, THAT IT WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT A WRITE WILL PRODUCE THE LAYOUT YOU INTENDED.
Some places don't allow some of these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, GRIZZLY MINING COMPANY LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS AND CONTRACTORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, LAYOUTS, ARRANGEMENTS, TIME, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO SCREENWRIGHT OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO SCREENWRIGHT OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YOUR SCREENWRIGHT LICENSE.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
13. Your rights as a consumer
If you're a consumer, the laws where you live may give you rights that a contract can't take away. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
14. Ending this agreement
You can stop using ScreenWright at any time. Just delete it.
If you seriously break these terms, for example by deliberately sharing your key or getting around the license check, we can end your license and revoke its key. Where we can, we'll tell you by email. A key exposed by accident isn't a breach: as section 4 says, we revoke it and send you a replacement. When it ends, you must stop using the licensed features and delete your license file. A refunded license also ends.
We may stop selling ScreenWright, or stop updating it, at any time. That doesn't end your license to the versions you already have.
Sections 4 (what you can't do, and who owns what), 6, 7 and 11 to 17 still apply after this agreement ends.
15. Governing law and disputes
Before anything else, please tell us about a problem through the support page. Most problems are a quick conversation.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be settled informally will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Montana, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you're a consumer and the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, or to the protection of your local laws, you keep that right. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods doesn't apply.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change matters, we'll also tell license holders by email or in the app. A change won't take away anything you've already paid for: your license to ScreenWright 1.x and the 1.x updates it includes.
17. The rest
- These terms, our Refund Policy and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about ScreenWright. Paddle's Buyer Terms cover the purchase itself.
- If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
- You can't transfer this agreement without our written agreement. We may transfer it to whoever takes over ScreenWright.
- Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- If these terms are translated, the English version governs.
18. Contact
The quickest way to reach us is the support page. A real person reads every message, and you'll get a ticket number straight away. For billing and refunds you can also contact Paddle through the link in your receipt email.
